The tour begins with an hour long drive from Carupano to El Pilar. After we've picked up the nice native tour guide we will hike for two hours along a stream in the rain forest. The density of the lush vegetation is overwhelming. On the way to our destination there is the possibility to bathe in the naturally warm and cold water. The walk back includes a 40 minute long walk through the jungle followed by a visit to a cocoa plantation. Finally we will visit a channel of a dam. For those who dare, they can go on a 50 meter water slide. In the evening we will camp out in the Finke Vuelta Larga.
During breakfast Klaus Müller ( owner of Finka) will hold a talk about his interesting project of reviving the savannahs. Then we will find out more about the apophasis of Orinoco, the so-called Cano. With a motor boat, we will then ride up the channel into the water desert of Cano, a primeval forest which is branched with waterways. The banks are marked with mangroves and with a bit of luck we might catch glimpse of dolphins, caimans and scarlet ibis'. On the way we will meet some fisher men and farmers who are on their way home with their crop. Once we've returned from the day trip we will have just enough time to look at the project that Klaus Müller described to you in the morning. We will be able to admire numerous birds and see the water buffalo that live there as well. Whoever wishes to may go on a ride through the many channels while allowing the fabulous show that nature has to offer to really sink in. In the evening we will return home.
